• Our wellness programs combine physical activity with evidence-informed mental health improvement approaches to assist individuals with helping themselves to improve their mental health

  • January 2023 saw the first round of our Body/Mind Boost Program.

The program aimed to bring people together, to get out and get active while also learning some vital mental health skills designed to prevent a mental health crisis. Combining our existing walking group with indoor soccer, gym sessions, yoga, circuit classes as well as Let's Talk Wellness and Decider Skills.

The group also had a separate connection time every week where they met online to discuss their own feelings and connect with each other outside of the structured program hours.

Our participants have given great feedback about the effectiveness of the program and the positive mental health effects the program has had on them. Many have returned for the second iteration and we look forward to running this program every 13 weeks.

  • Our walking group meet several times per week. We established this group in January 2022 following on from the horrific killing of a school teacher in Carlow. There was a general sense of unease around the country that women couldn't walk alone for fear of being attacked by a man or a group.

We also wanted to challenge the idea that all men are a threat to women by involving as many men as we could in the group. Our group has always felt at ease with the mix of men and women and some great friendships have formed as a result of this walking group.

The added benefit of our walking group is that it's a well established fact that exercise is the best anti-depressant you can give yourself. So while our walking group is out exercising their bodies, they're also giving their mental health the nutrients it needs to grow stronger.
