Supporting each other to better mental health
-
Our support groups are designed to empower people to overcome their fears and traumas and become more productive members of society. We are dedicated to compassionately assisting others with their mental health.
Survivors of Trauma & Abuse in Recovery
-
Originating as Survivor's Support Anonymous in 2018, Survivors of Trauma & Abuse in Recovery (S.T.A.R.) has evolved out of this original support group.
Meeting weekly on Wednesdays, the group supports one another through a unique 12 step program which aims to guide individuals through their trauma to a place of wellness. The group doesn't speak about their trauma as this can be triggering for some individuals.
A peer-led group, they work on many different aspects including, relationship issues, self-care, and reintroducing fun into the victim’s lives, confidence building and replacing any unhealthy coping skills with healthier ones. The group's ultimate aim is to acknowledge a person's struggle and let them know that they're not alone in their recovery to wellness.
The Lads Shed
-
Established in May 2022, the Lads Shed was created to allow men of all ages to come together in a comfortable environment where they could simply hang out and chat and get peer-led support without the need of a formal counselling environment.
Men everywhere are known for their ability to talk and get things off their chests when they least expect it, like in a group setting and that's what the Lads Shed was created to do.
From board games to bowling, indoor soccer to photography classes, the Lads Shed has something for everybody. Social anxiety affects people in a whole bunch of different ways. Men from all walks of life, young and old are affected and we welcome them all.
The Lad's Shed is currently on a break and will return in the summer.
