• We need help in lots of ways such as Peer Support, Awareness Team, Social Media Team, Admin Team, Fundraising Team and Gatekeepers.

    Here's a brief overview of some of the roles:

  • Gatekeepers

    • Welcome anyone that arrives and ensure there’s enough support volunteers to assist
    • Control the number of people in the building at any one time
    • Collaborate with emergency services if needed
    • Provide tea/coffee to individuals receiving support and/or their companions

    Note: Gatekeepers do not actually sit with the person in distress to try support them but their role is very important for everyone’s safety and comfort

  • Peer Support

    ​Actively listening to a person in distress in distress and validate how they feel.

    • Match a person in distress with possible external supports that may help in their recovery
    • Support the family of a person in distress where appropriate
    • Help the person in distress to come up with a plan if they are struggling with thoughts of suicide

    Note: full training will be given. Peer Support volunteers must be over 23, must undergo Garda vetting and not have been affected in their personal life by suicide in at least 2 years

  • Social Media Team

    • Creating social media posts for the Facebook and Instagram pages of the organisation's respective branches
    • Researching similar organisations and promoting their posts on the Haven Hub social media accounts
    • Answering messages that come in to the Haven Hub Facebook or Instagram pages
    • Creating timetables for the various courses run by the Haven Hub and posting same
    • Generating awareness videos in collaboration with the Awareness Team
  • Awareness Team

    • Researching local support services
    • Videos and posts raising awareness of our own service and other supports
    • Raising awareness of wellness courses we provide
    • Raising awareness of statistics, mental health conditions and recovery
    • Raising awareness of the challenges for people experiencing emotional distress
  • Admin

    • Answering emails and incoming queries
    • Collaborating with our course delivery teams to create the events and manage the bookings
    • Helping record payments made to and by the organisation
    • Recording volunteer training
  • Fundraising Team

    • Working with the Finance and Fundraising directors to determine some fun and engaging fundraising activities
    • Visiting businesses to form strategic partnerships and sponsorship opportunities
    • Advertising events in conjunction with the media director
    • Generating awareness of the organisation's mission by creating copy for local media
